sometimes, the manual reference is wrong. Spellsingers were considered specialists for spells from the school of song. part of it is taken traight from the D&D 3.5e SRD, even when PF has made changes (copy-paste from previous SRDs that never got touched). Spellsong always required verbal (singing) and somatic (playing an instrument) components. Spellsingers had an ability to use spellsong, enabling them to replace a memorized spell with an enchantment of lower level. Deeply spiritual, they follow a philosophy known as The Dissolution, which teaches that in passing they may again merge into the shadow.

They are extremely gaunt, with pixielike stature and skin the color of deep shadow. In that way, spellsingers were much more flexible than bards and could become more powerful. The wayangs are a race of small supernatural humanoids who trace their ancestry to the Plane of Shadows. Mostly, these stories are just fictions of fearful minds, but it’s true that wayangs were originally creatures of shadow, straddling the edge between light and darkness. They were usually elves living in elven homelands, but there were a few half-elven spellsingers and at least one human ( Danilo Thann) with distant elven heritage. To get Wayang Spellhunter, you will need to make sure you enable the DEP sourcebook on the Options page, and then set your Region to Minata. Spellsingers were almost always bards (or multi-classed bards, particularly wizard/bard).
